2009 Tri Nations Results

The results of all the 2009 Tri Nations matches are below with links through to the in depth information about each match of the tournament:

Background

The format of the competition changed in 2006, with the number of games that each team plays increasing from from four to six. Prior to this change the record number of points scored in the Tri Nations Series was the New Zealand who scored twenty points in 2003. This was only beaten in 2006 as a result of the All Blacks playing the extra two fixtures. New Zealand won the Tri Nations Championship without losing a game in 1996,1997 and 2003, whilst South Africa managed the same achievement in 1998. The fact that no team has gone unbeaten in the past four Tri Nations Championship Series highlights the ever increasing competitive nature of the competition.

The most points scored by one team in a Tri Nations game came when South Africa defetead Australia 61 - 22 at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria during the 1997 Tri Nations Series.
